Windturbines: the whole truth.

Author: Ing. J.A. Halkema

This is the English version of the Dutch WEBsite: http://www.wind-energie-halkema.org

A comprehensive analisis of all their properties.

Foreword to Part 1.

One single law of physics (formula), describing the energy that can be extracted from the wind , determines all the properties of wind turbines. In combination with the extreme variability of the wind, this results in a minimal and completely unpredictable varying production of electricity and the serious problems this can introduce in the reliable functioning of the electricity grid.
Naturally the effects of a law of physics will never change. They will be the same for both onshore and offshore wind turbines. The only but very important difference is that the periodic maintenance and repair of offshore wind turbines and the transportation of the produced electricity to the consumers are far more complicated and costly then for onshore turbines.
In this website is explained why this law of physics is of such great importance for the behaviour of wind turbines and how all the resulting disadvantages follow in unavoidabele and logic succession from it.
To make a fair judgment on the possible usefulness of wind turbines for the production of "clean electricity" (energy generated by wind, as a major source of "green and renewable" energy), one should only use arguments based on reality and realistic numbers. The whole truth should be told without concealing any disadvantage. This concealing of a part of the truth is unfortunately systematically practiced by the promoters of wind energy.

Biased statements based on the personal concerns of wind turbines makers or on political motivations ought to be avoided , as they are suspect beforehand. A list of persons and institutions in Holland who purposefully conceal important parts of the truth about wind energy and wind turbines, and therefore give misleading information can be found in one of the chapters.

Foreword to Part 2.

In the preceding First Part, I explained virtually all the characteristics and the risks of windturbines (and windfarms) and the essential information being withheld elsewhere, enough for the reader to make a fair judgment. This Second Part deals on a more profound level with the business risks of windturbines. It also focuses on deceptive methods used to encourage the public to believe in the usefulness of windenergy. Some government bodies play a poor role here by encouraging the informing agents, or at least by not discouraging them, to disseminate information that windenergy has hardly any disadvantages.
